Evaluation and Selection Process
All completed nomination forms will be distributed to each member of the Thought Leader Awards Committee on February 02, 2019. Members of the committee will serve as raters and will not communicate with other raters about award candidates during this time. Raters will assign scores for each candidate based on the comparison of data submitted against the description of each award. Each member will access an online form to rate each candidate by selecting a number using a slider tool to select a number (in .25 increments) between zero and eight that reflects his or her agreement to each statement. 0 = Zero Agreement and 8 = Full Agreement Raters will provide a written description of why they chose each rating. In the event of a tie, raters will use the online form to individually rank each candidate for each category, with first choice listed first.
Raters will use the same scale to assess how candidates’ contributions promote research in that area and a higher standard of excellence within that professional community. In addition, raters will use the same scale to assess candidates’ innovativeness, courage, curiosity, and humility.
Raters will have until March 02, 2019 to complete the online rating form. Award winners will have the highest total scores from the rating scales. All competencies are equally weighted. In the event of a tie, rankings will be evaluated. The candidate who ranked highest most consistently in an award category will be selected. In the event of continued ties, committee members will vote on the contending candidates through an anonymous survey link. In addition, the committee may elect to hold a group interview with each of the award contenders or convene a special committee meeting to reach consensus.
Awardees will be announced on March 05, 2019 to allow adequate time for notification award recipients and their nominators prior to the presentation ceremony and related press releases. Each of the raters will write a short press release for each award winner and will submit them to CB Bowman for public dissemination.
The Thought Leader Committee reserves the right to present a candidate with an award other than the one for which he or she was nominated. If, in the judgment of the raters, no candidates meet the eligibility requirements, an award may not be given for that category. At the discretion of the nominator, candidates not selected for a 2019 award may be submitted for consideration in a future year. Each awardee, selected in accordance with these procedures, will be requested to provide additional biographical information, a photo, and an indication of his or her availability to accept the award at the banquet and presentation ceremony at the 2019 Dialogue Conference in San Diego.
